Open Trustees has been shortlisted for Independent Trustee of the Year at the Professional Pensions’ UK Pensions Awards 2021.
The shortlisting follows a highly successful year for the team in which they have been recognised for the quality of their client service, expertise and innovation, as well as the completion of the largest buy-in deal of 2020: the £2 billion buy-in for members of the Old British Steel Pension Scheme.
The buy-in of the Old British Pension Scheme was a particular highlight for Open Trustees, as it secured the pensions of over 30,000 members at or above PPF levels. The transaction made sector and national news when it was covered between April and October 2020 by, among others, The Financial Times, Sky News, City AM and The Daily Mail.
Jonathan Hazlett, Managing Director of Open Trustees, said: “It’s been a significant year for Open Trustees and we’re incredibly excited to be in the running for Trustee of the Year at the Professional Pensions 2021 Awards. The buy-in for the Old British Steel Pension Scheme was a highlight for us, but it was by no means our only achievement, and this nomination reflects the exceptional level of client service, expertise and innovation which the team demonstrates consistently for each of the schemes we are appointed to.”
